
The General Producer Price Index in Industry showed a large increase of 31.6% in January 2022, compared to the corresponding index of January 2021, while last year it had decreased by 5.4% compared to the corresponding month of 2020, as announced by Hellenic Statistical Authority – ELSTAT.
The average General Index of the twelve months February 2021 – January 2022, compared to the average General Index of the twelve months February 2020 – January 2021, showed an increase of 17.1% compared to a decrease of 8.0% in the corresponding comparison of the previous twelve months. Also comparing the month of January 2022 with December 2021, the Index showed an increase of 4.0%, compared to an increase of 2.3% recorded during the corresponding comparison of the indicators of the year 2021 with 2020.
The increase of the Domestic Producer Price Index by 32% in January 2022, compared to the corresponding index of January 2021, is mainly due to the increase of the indices such as coke production and oil refining by 63.4%, electricity supply ( 62%), coal and lignite mining (35.4%), wood industry and manufacturing of products such as furniture etc. (16.3%), production of basic metals (11.8%).
The increase of the External Market Producer Price Index by 30.0% is due to sectors such as coke production and oil refining products by 70.2%, electricity supply (65.2%), manufacturing of rubber and plastic products (30%) , production of basic metals (11.8%), manufacture of electrical equipment (19.7%).
