There were 19,705 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 46 deaths from Covid-19 recorded in Greece over the last 24 hours, Greek authorities announced on Saturday. Of the new cases, 19 were detected in checks at the country’s borders. This raises the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2,776,192, of which 49.3 pct were men.
The number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Greece rose to 26,893 since the start of the pandemic, of which 95.2 pct had either another underlying condition and/or were aged above 70 years old.
On the basis of confirmed cases in the last seven days, 189 are considered related to travel abroad and 1818 to another known case.
The number of Covid-19 patients on ventilators was 349 (62.8 pct men) in the last 24 hours, of which 90.8 pct had an underlying conditions and/or were aged above 70 years old, while their median age was 69 years old. Of the patients on ventilators, 224 (64.18 pct) were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 125 (35.82 pct) were fully vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, 4,389 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
The number of new patients with Covid-19 admitted to hospitals throughout the country was 372 in the last 24 hours, while the average for the last seven days was 321 patients. The median age of Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals was 35 years years old, while the median age of those that died of Covid-19 was 79.
