Αs we are waiting for a new lifting of Covid-19 measures, the Greek Alternate Health Minister, Ms Mina Gaga, spoke to ERT channel about what would apply with vaccination certificates and the use of masks.
“The infections have increased” she said, adding that “I would like to tell you some good news, but this is the ugly truth. The good news is that, because of the weather, we can now go out, without wearing a mask.”
The epidemiological data isn’t good enough
In response to whether masks are no longer going to be required at indoor public places, she answered that there will be an obligatory use of masks in supermarkets and hairdressers due to the increase of the Covid cases.
“The epidemiological data isn’t good enough”, Ms Gaga added.
“We should continue observing the measures and we should always have with us our vaccination certificate, until we see a decrease in cases” she said.
“We have to be careful so as to protect the new tourist season”, the Greek Alternate Minister of Health added and pointed out that we have to be really careful and to observe all the measures, as Easter is just around the corner.
Unvaccinated health workers won’t return to the NHS
Speaking of the unvaccinated health workers, Ms. Gaga stressed that science is based on evidence. The government directives is that the unvaccinated health workers won’t return to the NHS. She also added that several doctors agree with this view, because the health sector is sensitive and everyone must follow the rules.
It should be noted that, according to information, from Monday, May 2, the vaccination certificate would not be necessary in order to enter shops, cafés and restaurants and that the relevant controls would be abolished. Likewise, if conditions permitted, on the same date, the use of masks would no longer be obligatory to enter indoor public areas, except for hospitals and public transport. “Any development concerning the lifting of measures will be discussed according to the health data,” Ms Gaga added.
