The cryptocurrencies and NFTs market are some of the most famous topics in the world news in recent years, having a significant audience mainly at younger ages. The first chef to enter the world of crypto is Greek and comes from Kalavryta. The award-winning, Alexandros Sperxos, who now lives in Dubai, innovates and leads the tasteful pleasure -and the cuisine in general -one step further, putting it in the world of crypto. The 31-year-old chef was in his hometown for the celebrations of the Agricultural Dairy Cooperative of Kalavryta, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year from the first production of the famous Barrel Feta PDO speaks to the Athens Macedonian News Agency.
Through the restaurants of his family in the mountains of Kalavryta, he explains how he decided to enter the world of crypto, turning his dishes into… works of art. While, as head of the EFZIN restaurant, which operates at the Greek pavilion at the global “EXPO 2020″ in Dubai, (which was postponed the previous two years due to the pandemic), he points out that he has established a zero waste policy in his kitchen, applying absolutely environmentally friendly cooking practices.
“I created, initially, four unique dishes, with a strong Greek aroma, and two cocktails, which shine in the dark, combining gastronomy with art. Their presentation took place at a special event in the United Arab Emirates. That was also the time when I made the decision, these dishes of high gastronomy, to become 3D files and enter the world of NFT’s,” Mr. Sperxos told to the Athens Macedonian News Agency.
High gastronomy cuisine in a new art form
The inspiration and unique creations of chef Sperxos transform the cuisine of high gastronomy into a new art form. Food is now becoming a work of art in a standing invitation to tender, constantly raising the price, turning it into an unprecedented investment. Moreover, according to the design, in the near future, by acquiring an NFT dish, the bidder will also acquire the opportunity for a fine dining with its creator.

“As far as cooking is concerned, my philosophy is to always use organic ingredients of the highest quality and present my dishes as works of art. Like a painting inside our plate, – using shapes, colors and textures that create a unique cooking experience,” says Mr. Sperxos. And he points out that he consistently chooses products from Kalavryta, that he imports to Dubai, such as the famous trachanas, the main ingredient to many of his popular dishes, that the foreigners love to eat.
What are these dishes? As he explains: “The first special NFT collection includes the following dishes: The Harvest – Salad burrata with crispy tomato cover “lying” on olive powder, accompanied with aromatized basil olive oil and mountain tea from Kalavryta. The Ocean “AKTE” – Scallops that “shine” through a veil of citrus foam and a fragrance of shiny flowers. The HUNT Meet Vitamins – Meat Wagyu “sitting” on a purple carrot puree, mashed potherbs “lying” in collagen sauce. Sweet of the Greek Gods – Orange pie emerging from a veil of dry ice smoke, as well as two mocktails (alcohol-free cocktails)”.
As it became known, the bidders who attended the event were fortunate enough to meet chef Sperxos and make their first offers for the acquisition of these unique NFT’s. In fact, the bids have already exceeded the 5 Etherium (ETH), (about 20,000 euros).
