The Ambassador of Iran, Mr Ahmad Nadero and the Commercial Attaché of the Embassy of Iran in Athens, Mr. Ehsan Bakhshandeh, were received yesterday at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry by the President, Mr Giannis Bratakos and the member of the Board of Directors and responsible for relations between Greece and Iran, Mr Nikos Sofianos.
During the meeting, Mr Bratakos outlined the priorities of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry regarding the development of Greek export activity and the inflow of investment funds to Greek companies, both from within the country and from abroad.
“One of the roles of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to build and expand our trade cooperation with other countries. At the moment, we are all experiencing the difficulties caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has intensified both the consequences of the energy crisis and the general inflationary pressures. I hope that the dispute will be resolved through diplomacy, so that the necessary balance needed for business recovery is gradually restored,” said the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressing, however, the importance of the national program of economic extroversion in chamber activities.

“All our actions in relation to our bilateral trade relations are always within the framework of the overall economic diplomacy planning of our state. We belong to specific organizations, such as the EU and NATO, and we consistently participate in whatever restrictions are set”, Mr Bratakos underlined, among other things.
The Iranian ambassador referred to the possibilities of expanding bilateral trade relations between the two countries. “In recent years, due to external factors, there has been a decline in our commercial activity. But now that the obstacles seem to be smoothed out, there is an ideal opportunity for the expansion of Greek-Iranian cooperation. The margins are unlimited “, said among others Mr Nadero, adding “In the context of the Posidonia international exhibition, there is a strong interest for the sending of an Iranian business mission to Athens. It would be a good opportunity to host b2b meetings, so that both sides can explore ways of networking. “
