MSC Cruises on Monday announced that it was designating the port of Piraeus, the biggest and largest in Greece, as the home port for its MSC Lirica vessel, while also implementing, for the first time, it’s “Stay & Cruise” program, which features up to two overnight stays at a local four-star hotel and a day excursion in the greater Athens area.
The program involves a number of hotels in greater Athens, according to Angelo Capurro, MSC Cruises’ executive director, who spoke to ot.gr.
Capurro was present on Monday at a welcoming ceremony in Piraeus for holiday-makers boarding the MSC Lirica for its inaugural cruise of the 2022 season.
MSC will field four cruise-ships plying Greek waters this season, with all passengers above the age of 12 required to have received three Covid-19 vaccinations.
MSC Lirica will feature an itinerary within seven overnight stays, with 28 voyages between April and October 2022 beginning from Piraeus, and stops in Kusadasi, Turkey, Haifa, Israel, Limassol, Cyprus and the Greek islands of Rhodes and Santorini, before returning to Piraeus.
