In order to promote destinations in mainland Greece that offer travelers unique experiences in all seasons, but also to further promote them in international markets, the Hellenic Tourism Organization’s – EOT Services of Cyprus and Germany implemented in the previous days respect trips (fam trips) for journalists and travel agents from both countries.
“Cities of the lakes”
Specifically, from April 6 to 10, the EOT Cyprus Service organized a fam trip for five Cypriot journalists in the cities of the lakes, Ioannina and Kastoria, in collaboration with the Municipalities of Ioannina and Kastoria, Aegean Airlines and the company Wise Ram. During their trip, the participants, accompanied by the head of the EOT Service, Petros Saganas, had the opportunity to tour the lakeside front of the two cities and the two lakes, to be guided to museums (Museum of Silversmithing and Ali Pasha Museum in Ioannina and Byzantine Museum of Kastoria), to visit important sights (such as the Castle of Ioannina, as well as the Aquarium, the Tsiatsiapas Mansion and the Dragon Cave in Kastoria), religious monuments and local wineries (featuring Steriou winery) as well as sampling the cuisine of the two areas.
They also met with the mayor of Ioannina, Moses Elisaf, and the deputy mayor of Tourism, Georgios Lolis, as well as with the mayor of Kastoria, Giannis Korentzidis, and the deputy mayor of Tourism, Athanasios Rimos.
In Athens
In addition, from April 7 to 10, twelve representatives of German tourist offices visited Athens, as part of a fam trip organized by the German EOT Service in collaboration with the Willy Scharnow Stiftung für Touristik Foundation, Lufthansa, the Attica Region, and the Grecotel hotel chain.
At the beginning of the visit program, an informative workshop took place with detailed presentations of the representatives-organizers about the tourist product of Athens and the wider region. Afterwards, the German travel agents, accompanied by Areti Prinou from the German EOT Service and a representative of the Willy Scharnow Foundation, took a tour of the Acropolis, toured the historic city center and its monuments, visited the Stavros Foundation Cultural Center and the Stavros Foundation from the Athenian Riviera to Sounio, with an intermediate stop on Lake Vouliagmeni.
