By investing steadily in the French market, Aegean will offer 1 million seats between Greece and France this summer, flying from 10 French cities to 7 popular Greek destinations. This capacity is a 10% increase compared to 2019. Having started its journey to and from France 20 years ago, the Greek company has transported 10 million travelers to date.
The starting point for the twenty-year journey was the cooperation started by the Greek air carrier in 2002 with TUI France, a subsidiary of the European travel group in France.
At that time, Aegean was still flying 16 aircraft, a number that has quadrupled today, while passenger traffic is six times higher. The partnership of the two companies has brought 3 million visitors to our country in the past 20 years, a percentage of 30% of what Aegean has handled during this period.
The twentieth birthday was celebrated, renewing their collaboration, in a solemn event, last Friday in Marathon, in the presence of the general manager of TUI France, Mr. Dirk Van Holsbeke and the CEO of Aegean, Mr. Dimitris Gerogiannis, together with associates and employees of the two companies.
Greece at the top of the destinations for TUI France in 2022
For this summer, Greece is the top destination for summer reservations of TUI France, which aims to bring 100,000 tourists to our country. In fact, it has brokenall records in bookings for 2022, winning first place. At the same time, our country records a three-digit increase in bookings compared to last summer. The most preferred destinations by French tourists are Athens, Crete, Kos, Rhodes and Corfu.
As noted by Mr. Van Holsbeke, Aegean represents 41% of the available positions of TUI France in our country. In fact, it is one of the top three airlines – partners of the extensive program of the French travel company, offering 24 routes from 12 departure airports and 7 destinations in: Athens, Heraklion, Corfu, Rhodes, Kalamata, Kos, Larnaca, as well as 15 Marmara and Lookéa Clubs – the brands through which the Group operates in our country.
1 million seats available between Greece – France
Mr. Gerogiannis spoke about a long-term cooperation that maintains its dynamics, remains fresh and, therefore, succeeds in constantly improving customer service, focusing on the common values and the customer-centric culture that Aegean shares with TUI France. “The determination and commitment to offer our passengers the highest quality of service and a unique travel experience has been the connecting link since the beginning of our partnership,” he said.
At the beginning of their cooperation, in 2002, Aegean operated just 10 routes to France, carrying only a few thousand passengers. However, the springboard was set for the Greek airline, which is firmly investing in the French market, to operate up to 95 direct scheduled flights per week from 10 French cities (Bordeaux, Brest, Deauville, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Toulouse) to 7 Greek destinations (Athens, Corfu, Heraklion, Kalamata, Mykonos, Rhodes, Thessaloniki).
Thus, for this summer, Aegean will offer 10% more capacity compared to 2019, which totals 1 million available seats. In fact, the company will base one of its aircraft at Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris.
