In order to inform young people about the career prospects in the maritime profession, recent conferences were held in Corfu and Ioannina respectively on the topic: “The sea is the way – Prospects of the maritime profession”.
These workshops were held on the initiative of the 3rd Regional Administration of the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard and were co-organized with the Regions of the Ionian Islands and Epirus, the Secondary Education Directorate of Corfu and the Regional Directorate of Education, the Eugenidis Foundation, the publications “Nautical Chronicles” & Isalos.net, the Corfu Port Authority, the Municipality of Corfu and the Municipality of Ioannina, and were held at the Municipal Theater of Corfu and in the cultural complex “D. HATZIS” of the Municipality of Ioannina.
The seafaring profession is facing a shortage of bridge and engine officers according to international shipping organizations.
