Retail turnover rose in the first quarter of 2022, according to a report release by Hellenic Statistical Authority ELSTAT

For the total of enterprises in retail trade, the turnover in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to 12.8 billion euro, recording an increase of 14.6% in comparison with the first quarter of 2021, when the respective turnover was 11.2 billion euro and a decrease of 16.7% in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2021, when the respective turnover was 15.4 billion euro.

of 2021 are:
• Retail sale of second-hand goods in stores, increase 66.1%.
• Retail sale of footwear and leather goods in specialized stores, increase 55.1%.
The activities that recorded the biggest decrease in turnover in the first quarter of 2022 compared with the corresponding
quarter of 2021 are:
• Retail sale via stalls and markets of textiles, clothing and footwear, decrease 13.7%.
• Retail sale of fish, crustaceans and molluscs in specialized stores, decrease 7.3%.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in first quarter of 2022 compared to first quarter of 2021 are:
• Region of Sterea Ellada, increase 18.1%.
• Region of Notio Aigaio, increase 18.1%.
2. Enterprises in retail trade divisions obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping
For the enterprises in retail trade divisions obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in March 2022 amounted to 2.8 billion euro, recording an increase of 19.8% in comparison with March 2021, when the respective turnover was 2.3 billion euros and an increase of 10.0% in comparison with February 2022, when the respective turnover was 2.5 billion euros.
The activities that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in March 2022 compared to March 2021 are:
• Retail sale of music and video recordings in specialized stores, increase 290.0%.
• Retail sale of carpets, rugs, wall and floor coverings in specialized stores, increase 159.1%.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in March 2022 compared to March 2021 are:
• Region of Notio Aigaio, increase 32.5%.
• Region of Thessalia, increase 22.6%.
3. Enterprises in retail trade divisions, excluding vehicles, food and fuel classes, obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping
For the enterprises in retail trade divisions, excluding vehicles, food and fuel classes, the turnover in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to 4.38 billion euro, recording an increase of 15.2% in comparison with the first quarter of 2021, when the respective turnover was 3.8 billion euros and a decrease of 27.6% in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2021, when the respective
turnover was 6.1 billion euros.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021 are:
• Region of Attiki, increase 18.3%.
• Region of Notio Aigaio, increase 17.8%.
For the enterprises in retail trade divisions, excluding vehicles, food and fuel classes, obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in March 2022 amounted to 0.65 billion euro, recording an increase of 45.0% in comparison with March 2021, when the respective turnover was 0.45 billion euro and an increase of 2.9% in comparison with February 2022, when the respective turnover was 0.63 billion euro.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in March 2022 compared to March 2021 are:
• Region of Notio Aigaio, increase 67.5%.
• Region of Attiki, increase 49.2%.
