PPC is rapidly proceeding with its green transformation and as the president and CEO George Stassis announced, 80% of the RES projects that it has set as a goal to be completed by 2026 have been licensed.
Thus, the company will be able to publish tenders for the construction of photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric, etc. clean energy systems with a power of 4 GW out of the total of 5 GW that it wants to operate within four years.
However, the PPC’s first big step, which currently operates RES with a capacity of only 239 MW, is taking place this year. According to the data presented by the management to analysts during yesterday’s teleconference, by year’s end\ will reach half a GW. To be more precise, it will be at 489 MW.
More specifically, by the end of the year, 290 MW power projects will have been put into operation. These are the under construction photovoltaic “Solar Arrow 1” with a capacity of 200 MW in Ptolemaida and the “Arcadian Sun I-II” with a capacity of 50 MW in Megalopolis. Also, the construction of the Small Hydroelectric Power Plant in Smokovo, Karditsa, with a capacity of 3.2 MW and two photovoltaic parks in western Macedonia with a capacity of 15 MW, each, have been completed.
The 4 GW portfolio
RES projects with a capacity of 4 GW have completed licensing procedures.
More specifically, 1,796 GW projects have received environmental permits and are awaiting the conditions for connection to the network, while 2.2 GW projects have received binding conditions for connection to the network.
Out of the total of 4 GW, almost 3.9 GW are photovoltaic, 72.5 MW wind, 20 MW small hydroelectric, and 25 MW biomass projects.
