As part of the establishment of the Maritime Committee of the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Thursday, June 2, at the French Embassy, a Cooperation Agreement was signed with the Cluster Maritime Français, in the presence of the French Ambassador, Patrick Maisonnave.
At the beginning of the event, the French Ambassador welcomed the proposal of the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the creation of a Maritime Committee that will bring together the two sectors of shipping, which are very complementary and very ambitious.
As it is emphasized, this Committee, from its existence, will offer a point of reference, a permanent structure where the Greek and French bodies will be able to meet, create synergies, exchange ideas, develop new trade transactions and win. The prospect of world trade growing by almost 45% over the next decade, the need to de-carbonize transport, which will require the renewal of a third of the fleet over the same period, and the withdrawal of the London Shipping Center from the EU are unique opportunities, to be used by this Committee.

Strengthening ties
The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of France and Greece, Laurent Tuyge, and the president of the Cluster Maritime Français, said that the idea of creating this Commission came from very important joint achievements between the two countries.
The aim of the Commission is to establish and strengthen the links between France and Greece in the various specialized sectors of Shipping, by organizing events and thematic workshops on the various professions of maritime transport.
Relations between the two countries in the field of maritime transport are long-standing. The establishment of the Shipping Committee aims to promote economic cooperation between the specialized companies of the two countries.
The committee consists of 10 members. With the ambition of achieving significant results, its President Philip Louis-Dreyfus invited the participants to actively contribute to the work of the Commission with their regular presence and participation.
Ms. Marily Fragkista, Member of the Commission and Representative of the Greek Shipowners, expressed her great satisfaction with the Commission due to the history of her company, but also for the promotion of the French-Greek partnership thanks to the knowledge of French values and French culture.
Finally, Mr. Louis-Dreyfus mentioned the issues that the Commission will address in the near future, such as: smart shipping, environmental issues, port infrastructure, safety and protection at sea, energy and transport issues, new technologies, financing, insurance and taxation.
