
Greece’s trade deficit widened by 49.5 percent in April 2022, as the value of imports exceeded that of exports by around 8 percentage points, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Tuesday.
Specifically, the value of imports totaled 6.854 billion euros in April 2022, up from 5.034 billion euros in April 2021, an increase of 36.2 percent. Excluding oil products imports, the figure was up by 23.2 percent, while excluding oil products and vessel imports, the figure rose by 23.2 percent.
The value of exports totaled 4.107 billion euros in April, up from 3.196 billion euros in April 2021, an increase of 28.5 percent.
The trade deficit reached 2.745 billion euros, up 49.5 percent from April 2021. Excluding oil products, the deficit grew by 41.1 percent, while excluding oil products and vessels, the deficit grew by 41.1 percent.
In the January-April 2022 period, the value of imports totaled 27.025 billion euros, up 45.6 percent from the corresponding period last year. Excluding oil products imports, it grew by 30.7 percent.
