Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was informed about the plan of the Worldwide Industrial & Marine Association (WIMA) to develop an electric ship through the “ELECTRIC DREAM” program during his visit to the Association’s stand in the Posidonia 2022 exhibition.
The Greek association WIMA has proceeded to the design and development of an emblematic project, called “ELECTRIC DREAM”, which incorporates the new trends, perspectives and challenges posed by the digital transformation, as well as the need to align with global regulatory standards (the main one being the reduction of carbon emissions) that will lead to “Green Shipping”.
The goal of WIMA, with the project “ELECTRIC DREAM” is the utilization of electricity in shipping, placing Greece at the global forefront for green, sustainable shipping and innovation.
Utilizing the know-how, innovations, products and ideas of its members, WIMA seeks to develop and build in Greece by Greek manufacturers and craftsmen, an original electric ship that will sail the Greek seas using green energy achieving zero carbon emissions.
The association seeks to create technological pathways and financing plans, to support a fair transition that will enhance the economic sustainability of the shipping industry.
