According to the ManpowerGroup’s Employment Prospects Survey for the third quarter of 2022 (June-September), a slightly lower recruitment rate is forecast by Greek organizations with the Overall Employment Prospects showing a decrease of -15%. In addition, 28% of employers expect an increase in the number of employees, 26% predict a decrease and 43% do not expect any change.
Greeks looking for work can expect an increase in the number of recruitments in 5 of the 11 sectors next quarter, 5 sectors are planning a reduction while in 1 sector no change is foreseen.
The strongest sector for employment in Greece is Information Technology, Technology, Telecommunications, Communications and SMEs with employment prospects reaching 23%, an increase of 4% compared to the second quarter of 2022. Also, strong recruitment intentions (12%) are expected in the sector Banks, Finance, Insurance & Real Estate. The lowest NEO (New Employment Opportunities) index is recorded in the sector of Non-Profit Organizations (-50%).
The least competitive region is Northern Greece with -9%, followed by the Greater Attica Region which remains stable with the rest of Greece showing + 16%. Employers in organizations with 250+ employees are more optimistic and large companies are the only organization size that expects an increase in employment with + 8% NEO, an increase of 11% compared to the second quarter of 2022 but a decrease of 25 % compared to the third quarter of 2021.
8 out of 10 employers find it difficult to find talent
60% of employers state that they have relative difficulty in filling positions due to lack of talent, 18% a lot of difficulty and 20% none. Especially in Attica the percentage rises to 61% for employers who state that they face relative difficulty in finding talent, 18% a lot of difficulty and 19% none. 23% of micro-enterprises, 17% of small, 16% of medium-sized and 14% of large companies face great difficulty in filling positions. Respectively relative difficulty 54% of very small enterprises, 63% of small, 58% of medium and 65% of large. The biggest difficulty is found in the primary sector (Production) with 30% of employers reporting that they find it very difficult to fill positions due to lack of talent and 63% reporting relative difficulty.
The highest percentage of employers (23%) report that it is more difficult to find talent in Human Resources (with the biggest problem being located in small companies) while the IT / Data and Industry / Production sectors follow. Regarding personal skills, 31% of employers say that the most difficult to find are responsibility, reliability, discipline, while 29% say that they find it difficult to find talent with resilience, stress resistance and adaptability.
