“The new crisis affects, but does not divert the economy from the goals we have set, and Greece ceases to be an exception in the eurozone,” said Finance Minister Christos Staikouras after his meeting at the ministry with his German counterpart Christian Lindner, which as he said came at a critical time for the world, Europe and Greece, with successive crises.
Exit from the enhanced surveillance regime
The Minister spoke of developments in the economy so far and also referred to the forthcoming exit of the country from the regime of enhanced supervision, which is expected to be confirmed the day after tomorrow, in the Eurogroup adding that “Greece, after many years of sacrifices by society and through systematic efforts of citizens and state, returns to European normalcy, showing stability and resilience.”
However, he noted the need for European, far-sighted and decisive political solutions. It is noted, finally, that Mr. Staikouras spoke in particular about the need for a common, European response to the revisionist tendencies, specifically citing Turkey’s proclivities towards Greece, which as he said “has always guarded the Thermopylae of Greece and Europe.”
