Landis + Gyr celebrates 50 years of its state-of-the-art production unit in Greece, according to a relevant announcement.
In particular, the European leading team of the Swiss provider of integrated energy management solutions visited the largest European production unit of the Group in Corinth to honor its 50 years of presence in Greece. The state-of-the-art smart electricity and gas meter plant with an annual production capacity of more than six million meters has contributed to the strong performance of Landis + Gyr in the last financial year, according to a relevant announcement.
It is worth noting that 2022 marks 50 years of the group’s presence in Greece. The Group’s European leadership team visited the group’s production facilities in Corinth to honor the event and, on the occasion, organized a meeting of executives to review the top priorities and identify important initiatives to achieve the next goals in the direction of functional excellence.
A successful year
The visit comes after a successful financial year for Landis + Gyr. With, among other things, sales of 11 million electricity meters in France’s Enedis and 2.5 million in Belgium’s Fluvius, the EMEA region contributed $ 590.1 million to the company’s total revenue of $ 1,464.0 million worldwide. Landis + Gyr was also recognized as the Advanced Measuring Infrastructure (AMI) company of the year for 2022 by Frost & Sullivan for creating significant value and technological innovations in the industry. Following the announcement of the company’s goal of achieving a neutral environmental footprint by 2030, Landis + Gyr in fiscal year 2021 avoided carbon dioxide emissions in excess of nine million tons, while joining the Science Based Target (SBTi) initiative for further reduction of emissions.
Landis + Gyr has been operating in Greece since 1972 and today has more than 550 employees in Corinth. After further investment in recent years, the state-of-the-art facility has more than 30 automated production lines for the production of smart electricity and gas meters and has an annual production capacity of more than six million meters. Adhering to the highest levels of safety in design and construction, the installation meets the latest ISO standards in quality management, environmental management, occupational health and safety and information security.
As the largest Landis + Gyr plant in Europe and the second largest in the world after its plant in Mexico, the Corinth plant has undertaken the manufacture of household and industrial meters until recently produced in Zug, Switzerland and Stockport in the United Kingdom. The plant currently manufactures all modern domestic and industrial smart electricity and gas meters, including the recently released E360 LTE and E660, sold in Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, while there is a growing demand from other Network Operators of EMEA countries.
