The innovative educational program “Adopt a Ship” attracted the interest of visitors to the Project Connect stand at this year’s Posidonia.
The program is being ingrained into the Greek educational system, but also in the wider community. “Ship Adoption” started during the school year 2018-2019 in 7 primary schools in Piraeus and in its third year has reached the point of connecting 3,250 primary and secondary school students in the country with 150 teachers and 94 captains from respective ships from the Project Connect member shipping company partners.
Communications between students teachers develop with the captain of the ship they adopt through e-mails enables them to experience life at sea in the classroom, traveling to parts of the world through their ships and at the same time learning about the economy, culture, ports, cities and maritime trade.
In order to include even more schools in this pioneering action, it is necessary to connect Project Connect with an even larger fleet of ships, with the company inviting other shipping companies, in addition to the 44 members, to strengthen the program.
In addition, in one of the most successful exhibitions in the history of the event, Project Connect, succeeded in promoting its innovative work, in a booth, which was personally curated by Mrs. Irini Notia. The Virtual 3D Shipping Company Tour was launched internationally for the first time, while the first specially designed Internet Curriculum Vitae, ON LINE CV PLATFORM, was presented, through which the HR Departments of shipping firms can search and locate the right staff capable for Internship and Entry Level positions.
