“We are ready for all scenarios,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from Brussels, referring to developments in the energy sector.
During the press conference he gave after the end of the EU Summit, the Prime Minister referred, among other things, to the European perspective of the Western Balkans, to Greek-Turkish relations, as well as to the energy crisis.
The Prime Minister stated that “the Commission is called by the end of the summer to complete the proposals for the disconnection of the price of natural gas from electricity”, but added with meaning that “in the meantime of course the government will continue to support households and businesses to the best of our ability. ”
He also lauded the unanimous decision to grant candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, which sends the message that Ukraine’s position is in Europe, but noting that it must implement reforms.
Mr. Mitsotakis also reiterated the country’s firm position that the Western Balkans have a place in Europe, but also stressed Turkish proclivities vis-à-vis the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Greece.
As to the rumor of snap election, the PM noted that as he has so often said these will place at the end of the government’s term.
