The Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health is meeting today, Tuesday, in order to evaluate the epidemiological data, in the midst of an increase in coronavirus cases in Greece.
According to information from the Ministry of Health, there is no question of proposing restrictive measures.
Epidemiologist Gikas Margiokinis explained that a resumption of measures could be considered in the event that the intubated patient exceed 250-300, but that we are still far from that possibility.
Regarding the number of cases, he said that by July 10, large numbers of cases are expected that will average 20,000 and this is due to two reasons:
- the Omicron 4 and Omicron 5 mutations are much more contagious in the context of personal immunity.
- the high number of tests that are being used in Greece.
However, Dr. Margiokinis pointed out that contrary to what he said yesterday in his post on social media, there is a possibility today that we will not see the number of cases rise to 20,000, and if this is finally confirmed, it means that we have entered a slowdown and the peak can finish faster.
