
The Thessaloniki-Smyrna (Izmir) ferry connection is expected to start in July, as announced by the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Giannis Plakiotakis.
During a visit to the premises of the Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH SA), Mr. Plakiotakis referred to the general upgrade of the area and stressed that the connection of Thessaloniki with Smyrna will commence in July.
The “Smyrna di Levante”, of Levante Ferries which will ply the route has a length of 160 meters, top speed of 18 knots and will be able to carry 950 passengers, 60 trucks, while it will also have 200 cabins.
Mytilene becomes stopover port
It is noted that the “Smyrna Di Levante”, which has undergone a complete overhaul, extensive technological upgrade, as well as complete remodeling and renovation of its interiors, will dock at least twice a week at Lesvos.
