
Household deposits fell by 336 million euros in May, according to official data from the Bank of Greece. On the other hand, the corresponding deposits of companies increased by 1.647 billion euros
In particular, deposits of households and private non-profit institutions decreased by 336 million euros in May 2022, compared to an increase by 991 million euros in April, while the annual rate of change decreased to 4.0% from 4.3% in April.
Company deposits
In May 2022, corporate deposits increased by 1,647 million euros, compared to an increase of 359 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 14.3% from 10.8% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from non-financial corporations increased by 1,488 million euros, compared to a decrease of 273 million euros last month. Deposits from insurance companies and other financial institutions rose by 159m euros, up from 632m euros last month.
Private sector
In May 2022, private sector deposits increased by 1,311 million euros, compared to an increase of 1,350 million euros in the previous month, while the annual growth rate increased to 6.3% from 5.8% in the previous month.
Overall, the monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by 1,263 million euros, compared to a positive net flow of 1,531 euros million in April 2022.
General government
In May 2022, general government deposits decreased by 48 million euros, compared to an increase of 181 million euros in the previous month, and the annual rate of change decreased to 2.2% from 3.0% in the previous month.
