Greece’s relevant energy minister on Monday said the country faces one of the lowest risks in Europe in terms of supply sufficiency, “provided that liquefied natural gas (LNG) is available.”

Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas made the statement after chairing an emergency meeting of a government-affiliated crises management group convened to evaluate sufficiency of natural gas reserves in the country in case Russia cuts off supply.

According to a briefing held during the meeting, the minister claimed Greece has the ability to effectively cope with a potential reduction in the supply of Russian natural gas.

Top officials of regulatory authorities, power companies and natgas providers were present at the meeting, along with energy-related government cadres.
