The Revithoussa LNG Terminal, located just off the coast of an industrial stretch west of the port of Piraeus, was the top entry point for natural gas into Greece in the first half 2022, covering 44 percent of domestic demand.
Imports of Russian natural gas approximated to 34 percent of domestic demand, the country’s state-run natural gas transmission system operator (DESFA) announced on Tuesday.
DESFA added that domestic consumption of natural gas fell, although overall demand increased, as exports of natural gas -deliquefied in Greece – more than doubled in the January-June period. Such exports were mainly funneled to Bulgaria and Italy.
Total demand (domestic consumption and exports) of natural gas rose 3.84 percent to 38.91 TWh, up from 37.47 TWh in the same period last year.
Domestic consumption fell 10.33 percent to 30.31 TWh, whereas exports increased by 134.33 percent to 8.60 TWh
