
The Penteli fire is in remission, there is no active front and fire forces are still working to extinguish all small fires and eliminate the risk of rekindling.
More specifically, small fires remain in Dioni, Dasamari and even smaller ones in Anthousa, Panorama Pallini and Drafi. Heavy forces and 19 air assets continue to work to bring the fire fully under control . Throughout the rest of the perimeter of the fire there are currently no active foci.
The work of the Firefighters is supported by Local Government Civil Protection officers, volunteer firefighters, citizen volunteers and voluntary organizations.
An important role is played by the Greek Police who continue to monitor the areas and traffic regulations, the Armed Forces and the Forestry Services who assist in the opening of safe zones and lanes, while the hospitals of Attica were and are in full readiness, as is the EKAV ambulance service.
Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator-HEDNO is already inspecting and restoring the damage that struck its network and the power lines that were destroyed.
All phases of the operations were carried out and continue to be carried out under the coordination of the Civil Protection interministerial task force.
34 injured in Attica hospitals
The number of persons injured by the fire in Penteli has increased, as from three originally reported injured, 34 patients have been transferred to hospitals in Attica so far.
In particular, 34 patients have been transported to hospitals with ambulances, Mobile Medical Units and a vehicle of ETIK (Special Department of Disaster Medicine), while first aid has been provided without transport to 17 citizens.
Specifically:
1 in G. Gennimatas Hospital,
5 in Hippocrates Hospital,
23 in the Red Cross Hospital,
1 in Sotiria Hospital,
1 to KAT Hospital while 3 Firefighters with respiratory & minor injuries were transported to 251 Air Force Hospital
Evacuations of citizens belonging to vulnerable groups
From the evacuations that took place a) from the “Ariti” Supported Living Residences (Gerakas), b) from the “Chara” Center for Special Persons (Pallini) and c) from the “Efestia” Elderly Care Unit ( Gerakas), ambulances evacuated to hospital only 3 guests who were in need while the rest were evacuated under the responsibility of Civil Protection authorities.
