Air passenger arrivals from abroad to Greece in June 2022 have exceeded the figure for the same month of 2019, by far the “banner year” for tourism in the country.
Over the first half of the year, the number of arrivals by air from foreign destinations covered the corresponding period of 2019 up to 90.6 percent.
Based on provisional data released on Thursday by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority, the number of arrivals at airports across the country in June 2022 was 8,398,777, up by 167.6 percent in relation to the same month in 2021.
The number of flights recorded at all Greek airports for the same month reached 67,428, of which 22,212 were domestic and 45,216 international, an increase of 64 percent from the same month in 2021 (41,107 flights).
The number of flights in June 2019 reached 66,827, meaning a 0.9-percent increase for last month.
