Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the doubling of funding and beneficiaries of the “Tourism for All 2022” program during his visit to Preveza.
As he said the government will give another 30 million euros, so that 200,000 more citizens will be able to make use of these funds to help extend the tourist season.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, the “Tourism for All” program is being strengthened with an additional 30 million euros, with the total budget amounting to 61 million euros – from 31 million euros that were initially budgeted – and the total beneficiaries, for this year, will reach 400,000.
Priorities
Mr. Mitsotakis noted that this additional outlay reflects the priorities of a government which always focuses on the weakest, noting also the very good course of tourism so far, as also shown by BoG figures published today.
What’s included
The “Tourism for All 2022” program provides for the provision of a digital card to subsidize expenses in hotels and accommodation throughout Greece.
The card has a value of 150 euros for each beneficiary and 200 euros for disabled persons with a disability of more than 67%, compared to a horizontal subsidy of 120 euros provided for last year. It can be used until the end of June 2023, either once in one destination or at several different places.
The Prime Minister toured the center of Preveza and talked to citizens. He then visited the Archaeological site of Nikopolis, where he was welcomed by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni, who informed him about the progress of the restoration projects that are in progress.
Who will get the new vouchers?
The new digital vouchers – 200,000 in number – will be redeemable by beneficiaries from mid-September onwards, until June 2023.
As the Ministry of Tourism states in its announcement, “They concern our fellow citizens, who have already submitted an application on the vouchers.gov.gr electronic platform, which closed at midnight on Thursday, June 21, and will not have been selected as beneficiaries in the electronic lottery that will take place, until the beginning of next week, for the distribution of the first 200,000 digital vouchers.
The new program confirms in practice the Government’s commitment to support households affected by the imported energy and inflationary crisis and is part of the wider planning of the Ministry of Tourism to strengthen domestic tourism”.
