“Reliability and relationships of trust in politics are built on the consistency between words and deeds and our government has honored this agreement of truth” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his speech on the handover of the Amfilochia bypass on the Aktio-Ambrakia highway.
The Prime Minister harped on the importance of the project for the whole Greece, but especially for Amfilochia, which becomes impassable in the summer months, since before the bypass the highway passed through the city center. This was through the opening of the first 17 km of the bypass. This also shaves-off at least 25 minutes for those who travel from the Ionian coast to Vonitsa, Preveza, Palero, and Lefkada.
Ahead of schedule
Mr. Mitsotakis also commented on the delivery of the project ahead of schedule, asking project contractor Evangelos Mytilinaios to complete the overall project earlier than the deadlines.
At the same time, Kyriakos Mitsotakis argued that the new highway will also significantly reduce traffic accidents on this particular road network.
“We want to be judged for our works and not for our words” added Mr. Mitsotakis, emphasizing that “Greece is changing and changing for the better. I want to give you my personal assurance that we will continue to work with even greater zeal, with even greater energy until the end of the four-year period to support the citizens, to support the Greek region, to fully implement our program and despite the very great difficulties, which happened to us to put to the judgment of the Greek people at the end of the four years a complete government project, which will allow us to once again claim the trust of the Greeks.”
