In particular, by the decision of the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Ioannis Tsakiris, the Special Secretariat for the Management of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) & Local Government Programs signed the Inclusion of the Action “Compression Station in Ampelia” in the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014- 2020”, on 19-07-2022,
The project includes the construction of a Compression Station in the area of Ampelia Farsala in order to provide the necessary compression capacity to respond to the future increased demand for natural gas.
Natural gas flow increase
Given the connection of the TAP pipeline in Southern Mesimbria, an increase in the amount of natural gas transported from the North to the South, through the National Natural Gas System, is expected.
To ensure the hydraulic sufficiency of the network in all scenarios of entry point selection by the Users for their quantities, there is a need to strengthen the transmission system by installing a compressor station in the southern part of Greece, which concentrates a large part of the demand.
The station will include two compression units plus the backup unit, with a power of (2+1) x 10MW, while it will also provide compression in reverse flow.
The total Public Expenditure of the action amounts to 30,111,471.88 euros, while the total cost of the Transaction amounts to 59,626,677.00
The start date of the action is set as 22/01/2020, ending on 31/12/2023, while the Beneficiary of the project is the National Natural Gas System Operator (DESFA) S.A.
