The general index at the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) on Friday recorded a fourth straight increase, ending above the 850-point level on the back of gains by markets around the world.
The general index rose by 1.37 percent to close at 851.05 points, up 2.54 percent over the week and by a total of 5.01 percent in July 2022.
Overall in 2022, the general index is down 4.73 percent, compared to the last trading session of 2021.
The Large Cap index ended 1.36 percent up and the Mid Cap index rose by 0.19 percent. Turnover was a moderate 55.55 million euros in volume of 27,230,455 shares.
Hellenic Petroleum (3.45 percent), Motor Oil (2.99 percent) and Terna Energy (2.94 percent) were the top gainers among blue chip stocks, while Ellaktor (-1.48 percent), Quest Holdings (-1.01 percent) and Aegean Airlines (-0.96 percent) sustained the biggest losses of the day.
In terms of sectors, Oil (3.10 percent) and Utilities (1.95 percent) were up, while Health (-1.94 percent) and Travel (-0.81 percent) fell.
Eurobank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 74 to 42, with another 22 issues unchanged.
Frigoglass (7.48 percent) and Ideal (4.95 percent) were top gainers, while Kreka (-17.39 percent) and Varvaresos (-16.67 percent) were the biggest losers.
