Speaking to children hosted at the “FTELIO” camp of the Kozani Children’s Shelter “Agios Stylianos”, in Pteleos, Magnesia, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Michalis Papadopoulos explained the government’s experiment on Astypalea, as the first Smart and Sustainable Island of the Mediterranean, combining green and smart transport.

The Deputy Minister of Transport spoke of the need for every citizen to adopt a behavior that favors the use of means of transport that are less polluting, but also often more economical, such as for example the use of the Metro over the car in Athens.
Sustainable transportation
Mr. Papadopoulos developed the concept of sustainable transportation by explaining to the children the options they have using public transportation or cycling for their commuting.
The Deputy Minister of Transport had the opportunity to listen to the suggestions and thoughts of the children, but also to inform them about the new technologies that are friendlier to the environment, with an emphasis on electric mobility. He emphasized that road safety is primarily a matter of mentality that concerns the behavior of all of us on the road, whether as car drivers, cyclists or pedestrians.
