As long as the Greek economy continues to grow at rates higher than those foreseen, additional fiscal space will be created which will be used for new support measures, said the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, to Antenna television station, in response to the question whether there will be new social support measures. He cited as an example the electricity subsidies “which are the largest in all of Europe”.
Asked if Greece will take measures to save energy starting in the fall, he replied that it is a given that if Russia completely cuts off the supply of natural gas to Europe, all countries will face problems. In this case, Greece will also need to take some measures, but Mr. Georgiadis believes that the country will be in a much better situation than the countries of northern Europe.
Optimism about inflation
Regarding inflation, he said that at the end of the year Greece will have inflation around the European average and explained why in the first half of 2022 inflation in Greece is higher than the European average.

Finally commenting on the successive incidents of femicides in recent days, he argued that we should encourage all women who are subject to violence by their partners to report it and the Authorities should be stricter in dealing with such incidents.
