
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, paid a two-day visit to Methana and Trizinia. Ms. Michailidou had the opportunity to discuss with organizations, but also residents of the area about all the issues that concern them, with the aim of improving their daily lives.
During the first day of her tour, the Deputy Minister, accompanied by Mayor Spyros Pollalis, visited the Port Authority and the Police Department of Methana. There, she was informed about the needs of the security forces, but also about the necessary initiatives aimed at further strengthening their services.
Later, at the Methana Children’s Creative Activity Center, during the discussion that Ms. Michailidou had with the employees and management, she emphasized the important role played by the Centers and Disabled Children’s Creative Activity Centers in local communities.
On the same day, the Deputy Minister attended the event organized by the Diocese of Hydra, Spetses, Aegina, Hermioni and Trizinia, for the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor disaster and addressed a short greeting. Mrs. Michailidou stated that: “There is no greater tribute and recognition of the efforts of the uprooted, than to build in this place, in their second homeland, an optimistic and hopeful future for their grandchildren and all the generations to come. The greatest honor and justification of the uprooted is our current effort to keep the place strong, to preserve its character and make it a model of balanced and sustainable development!”
Serving the needs of the local community
During the second day of her visit, the Deputy Minister, in the meeting she had with the Mayor Spyros Pollalis and the Deputy Mayors, was thoroughly informed about all the current issues that concern the region and about the needs of the local community.
Ms. Michailidou also visited the Galatas Police Department, the Trizinia fire station, and the local nursery school, where she was given a tour of the area and discussed with the employees and representatives of the administration about the value of pre-school education and its importance in the future development of children.
Finally, the Deputy Minister also visited the village of Kalloni, where she talked with the residents and heard their problems.
Ministry priorities
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou, stated that “our priority is to improve the quality of life of citizens throughout the country. For this reason, we support the work of the local authorities in practice, so that we can all together preserve and strengthen the extroversion of Greece. As a State, we do everything we can to constantly strengthen the daily life of all our fellow citizens”.
