The import price index for Greece’s industrial sector rose by 28.1 percent in July 2022, compared with the corresponding month in 2021, and after a 21.2-percent rise during the same period in 2020, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Wednesday.
The statistics service said the increase was caused by so-called “imported inflation”, linked with a 38.4-percent increase in the import price index from non-Eurozone members, as well as an 8.9-percent hike in the import price index from Eurozone member-states.
The import price index fell by 1.4 percent in July 2022, compared to the previous month, June 2022.
Meanwhile, in another figure posted by EL.STAT, Greek enterprises’ accumulated turnover reached 111 billion euros in the second quarter of 2022, up by 31.4 billion (39.3 percent) compared with the same trimester in 2021.
Specifically, the largest percentage increase in turnover was posted by enterprises in the food-beverage-hospitality sector (128.8 percent), while businesses in the health sector and social care posted the biggest percentage decline (4.2 percent).
