The Greece-based Sklavenitis supermarket group this week announced turnover for 2021 nearing four billion euros, up by 5.1 percent from the previous year, and significantly higher than the increase posted sector-wide.
Specifically, Sklavenitis said turnover in 2021 reached 3.98 billion, up from 3.79 billion in 2020.
The group’s EBITDA totaled 292.7 million euros, up from 261.4 million euros in 2020.

Net profits, however, dropped by 2.4 percent, yoy, or 61.08 million euros in absolute terms, down from 62.58 million euros in 2020; the same figure was down by 7.59 percent for the parent company, at 55.50 million euros in 2021, from 60.06 million euros in 2020.
The announced results mark the second consecutive year that the group and parent company posted profits.
As part of a 63-million-euro investment plan implemented in 2021, Sklavenitis opened six new outlets in the provinces and renovated more than 80 stores.
Even more noteworthy is the fact that Sklavenitis reported more than 1,300 hirings in 2021, with the new group now employing more than 31,700 people.
