Radisson Hotel Group announced record growth in Greece, with four agreements and three new additions to date, acquiring – as it emphasizeδ – a decisive role in the country’s international growth potential.
According to the relevant press release, 2022 marks an impressive year for the Group as it continues to build on the growing confidence of its strategic investors and partners. With the signing of two new hotel investments in Athens and two more in Mykonos and Skiathos, which opened this year, the Group’s portfolio now numbers eight properties, with almost 1,000 rooms in operation or under construction.
At the same time, in recent months, the Radisson Hotel Group has introduced many of its brands to the Greek market. Recently, it announced the signing of the Radisson RED Mitropoleos Square Athens agreement, the first hotel to operate under the Radisson RED brand in Greece, which will open its doors in the second half of 2023 and will be a high-end hotel in Greece. Radisson RED Mitropoleos Square Athens, an old office building converted into sophisticated design apartments, will feature 100 rooms and a 150 sq.m. meeting space, as well as a gym. On the ground floor of the building there will be a restaurant with a view of the square, while the most attractive part of the building will be the roof top bar – restaurant with a view of the Acropolis, which will operate in collaboration with an acclaimed chef.
New addition
The Social Kolonaki Athens Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals, which opens its doors next November, is a new addition to the expanded hotel portfolio of the Radisson Individuals Group in the Greek market. Lying on Voukourestiou Street in the heart of Athens, The Social Kolonaki Athens Hotel will be the first branded hotel on this street. The seven-story hotel, with an urban interior style to match its modern location, will offer 24 spacious rooms and suites, including a presidential suite. The hotel is expected to be a cosmopolitan destination in the city, with a modern restaurant and bar on the ground floor, impressive breakfast area and private dining areas. The hotel lobby can be transformed at any time into a space that will host special artistic events and social gatherings in the city.
Expansion to Mykonos, Skiathos
As pointed out, the Group marked yet another significant expansion for this year by enhancing its “resort” portfolio, with the addition of two resorts on the popular islands of Mykonos and Skiathos. Together with the island resorts of Santorini and Crete, where the Radisson Hotel Group is already present, the two new destinations complete the Radisson Hotel Group ‘resort’ list. In the internationally popular destination of Mykonos, the Radisson Blu Euphoria Resort, Mykonos opened in May 2022, the Group’s first hotel on the island, which is the first entry of a major international hotel brand for this destination. The hotel is located a few steps from the beach ΄Kalo Livadi΄ and has 34 luxurious rooms and suites, which draw inspiration from the white architecture of the Cyclades. Most rooms offer spectacular views of the Aegean Sea, with the highlight being the majestic Euphoria Suite which includes a private terrace and swimming pool. Accordingly, Skiathos’ first international brand hotel, Radisson Resort Plaza Skiathos, opened its doors in July 2022. The hotel is located on Kanapitsa Beach and includes 84 rooms and suites with modern, minimal decor, overlooking the pool and the sea. The hotel is ready to host large wedding events, as it has its own Orthodox chapel and reception area at the outdoor pool, which offers stunning views.
Investments
The Radisson Hotel Group currently operates five hotels and resorts in Greece, the Radisson Blu Park Hotel in Athens, the Radisson Blu Beach Resort in Milatos, Crete, the Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort in Santorini, the Radisson Blu Euphoria Resort in Mykonos and the Radisson Resort Plaza in Skiathos, while two more are expected to open in the coming months.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President and Global Development Director of Radisson Hotel Group, emphasized: “We strongly believe in the potential of the Greek market and its future growth prospects. After introducing three additional brands across the Radisson Hotel Group brands to the market in 2022, we see even more potential expansion, in collaboration with our owners and investors. We sincerely thank our partners for their trust in the Radisson Hotel Group.”
For his part, Elie Milky, Vice President of Radisson Hotel Group and responsible for Development, noted: “This has been a record-breaking year of growth for the Radisson Hotel Group in Greece, as we have demonstrated our market leadership and strengthened our position against the competition. Our strategic expansion plan is at an advanced stage and we are very pleased to see tangible results, with new agreements and investments further strengthening our footprint in the country and contributing to its tourism development. We continue to expand our offering to investors as we find new opportunities and properties within different categories, brands and locations.”
