Public health authorities in Greece on Tuesday confirmed 44,775 new Covid-19 infections in the country for the third week of September.
This is equivalent to 4,292 infections per one million people during the specific week (weekly change: 24 percent), with 26 percent of the weekly new infections being reinfections.
Additionally, another 97 deaths from Covid-19 were reported in the same week, or nine fatalities per one million people (weekly change: -16 percent), bringing the total number of victims since the pandemic began to 33,111.
Of the victims, 96 percent had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or more.
A total of 79 patients were intubated as of Sept. 25. Their median age is 70 years and 96.2 percent have an underlying condition and/or are 70 years old and over.
