A ministerial decision announced on Tuesday by the finance ministry transfers 23.5 hectares of land and 50 buildings to municipalities bordering on the Ellinikon-Aghios Kosmas metropolitan pole, the massive real estate tract in southeast coastal Athens where Greece’s biggest privatization and property redevelopment project is taking place.

The three municipalities are Alimos, Glyfada and Ellinikon-Argyroupolis.

The overall expanse in the past hosted the Athens area’s only commercial airport, with two terminals, auxiliary buildings, such and hangars, a military airbase and even outdoor facilities for the 2004 Olympic Games.
