The European Union is revving up efforts to achieve a single joint response to the issue of high natural gas prices ahead of the extraordinary council of energy ministers of the EU member states on Friday (30/9).
Greece is pushing for a ceiling on the wholesale price and is proposing the creation of a European Fund to deal with the effects of high gas prices. A letter was drawn up specifically for the wholesale price ceiling at the initiative of Greece, Italy, Belgium and Poland, signed by a total of 15 EU member states.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his related post welcomes the letter sent to the EU and mentions in his tweet: “Great news in the fight against high energy prices! A majority of the 15 EU member states now back the request to the Commission to apply a price-cap on natural gas.”
