Greek PM Mitsotakis: On October 7, RES covered all the country’s needs for 5 hours

“On October 7, renewables covered for the 1st time Greece’s entire electricity demand for 5 hours. A significant milestone as Greece rapidly emerges as a leader in renewables – ranked 7th globally in 2021 in solar and wind as a share of total electricity generation.,” the Prime Minister said in a post on Twitter.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis speaks of “a significant” as “Greece is rapidly emerging as a protagonist in RES – it ranks 7th globally for 2021 in terms of the share of sun and wind as sources of total electricity production”.

“Faced with an unprecedented global energy crisis, the path ahead is clear: we must move faster for more Renewable Energy Sources, in order to offer cheaper energy to our citizens,” concludes the Prime Minister.
