Greece-based Sunlight Batteries on Wednesday announced an expansion of the US subsidiary in the state of North Carolina, citing an additional investment of 40 million USD as part of an overall 150 million USD outlay for all US operations.
Along those lines, the ambitious and now multinational Greek company said it will build a fully owned, state-of-the-art 134,000 sq complex in the North Carolina town of Mebane, an investment it says will create up to 200 jobs for high-tech and highly trained staff.
The complex is billed as having an immediate assembly capacity of 1GWh and 3GWh gradually until 2026, and concentrate on providing lithium-ion batteries and battery charging solutions to US consumers and companies.
According to Sunlight Batteries USA, the new facility will be equipped with five lithium-ion battery assembly lines, including a fully automated one and one dedicated to ESS.
Sunlight Batteries USA is a subsidiary of the Sunlight Group, a technology company headquartered in Athens.
