Public health authorities in Greece on Tuesday confirmed 52,966 new Covid-19 infections in the country for the third week of October 2022, with the total number of reported and confirmed infections in Greece totaling 5,135,200.
This is equivalent to 5,077 infections per one million people during the specific week (weekly change: -4 percent), with 22 percent of the weekly new infections being re-infections.
Additionally, another 138 deaths from Covid-19 were reported in the same week, or 13 fatalities per one million people (weekly change: 23 percent), bringing the total number of victims since the pandemic began to 33,574.
Of the victims, 96 percent had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or more.
A total of 82 patients were intubated as of Oct. 23. Their median age is 74 years and 97.6 percent have an underlying condition and/or are 70 years old and over.
