More specifically:
• The Hellenic Cables Group undertakes the cable section of the Lavrio-Serifos and Serifos-Milos interconnection (Section A’), with a total length of 170 km and a contract price of 195 million euros.
• The Prysmian Group undertakes the cable section of the Milos-Folegandros and Folegandros-Santorini interconnection (Section B’), with a total length of 127 km and a contract price of 150 million euros.
The relevant contracts are expected to be signed within 2022 after the completion of the legal pre-contractual procedures.
The project that will integrate Folegandros, Milos and Serifos into the Continental Electricity Transmission System is part of the fourth and final phase of the Cyclades interconnection and will be completed in 2024. With its operation, the new interconnection will significantly upgrade the quality of electricity in 7 more directly and indirectly interconnected islands of the Cyclades (Folegandros, Milos, Serifos, Ios, Kimolos, Sifnos and Kythnos) throughout the year while it will allow the gradual withdrawal of the polluting and old technology power plants that are still operating in Milos and in Serifos.
The project, with a total budget of 345 million euros, has applied for co-financing of 103.5 million euros from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
