
CMA-CGM has announced the launch of a weekly container route between Thessaloniki and ports in Northern Europe.
CMA-CGM’s new “FEMEX” service will connect Thessaloniki with the ports of Southampton (Great Britain), Antwerp (Belgium), Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Hamburg (Germany) and as the company announced in its announcement, the event start of the route will take place on December 8. Regarding exports from Thessaloniki, it is clarified that it is also connected to ports in Turkey (Istanbul, Gebze, Gemlik, Izmir), as well as the port of Tangiers in Morocco.
Weekly routes
CMA-CGM ships will serve the port of Thessaloniki weekly with the above ports, which are among the largest serving containerships.
CMA-CGM is one of the largest container transport companies, occupying the third position worldwide with a presence in 160 countries, 20 million TEUs and management in 50 ports. In Greece, its presence began in 2001 in Piraeus and Thessaloniki, where it holds a share of co-management in the Thessaloniki Port Authority Container Station. CMA-CGM Greece, as noted in its announcement, has a clear orientation over the last two years to the utilization of the port of Thessaloniki and its upgrade to a main gateway for the southern Balkans.
