The Coastal Transport Council unanimously decided on again putting up for bidding the Kasos-Karpathos barren route lines with the same terms and conditions as the previous announcement.
It is recalled that the previous tender was fruitless, as no company expressed interest in covering the line.
Specifically, the announcement concerns (Category B and C ships) as follows:
a) PIRAEUS-THIRA-ANAFI-KASSOS-PIGADIA KARPATHOU-DIAFANI-HALKI – RHODES and return, with rented section THIRA-ANAFI-KASOS-PIGADIA KARPATHOU-DIAFANI-HALKI- RHODES and return
b) PIRAEUS-THIRA-ANAFI-SITEIA-KASOS-PEGADIA KARPATHOU-DIAFANI-HALKI-RHODES and return, with rented section THIRA-ANAFI-SITEIA-KASOS-PEGADIA KARPATHOU-DIAFANI-HALKI-RHODES and return
c) Piraeus-Thira-Heraklion-Siteia-Kasos-Pigadia Karpathos-Rhodes and return, with leased section Sitia-Kasos-Pigadia Karpathos-Rhodes and return
As highlighted, for all the above lines, one route per week will be run throughout the route period until 31/10/2023.
“Without any discount in quality”
According to the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy, the three main routes are immediately re-announced without any reduction in the quality of the ferry connection with Class B ships. “This time a permanent and timeless request of the residents of our two remote islands will be implemented for their connection with Piraeus in a way that does not fall short in relation to the connections of the rest of the coastal ferry network of the Dodecanese”, it is pointed out.
