With the aim of enhancing Greek-French economic and commercial cooperation and promoting business synergies, in the presence of five ministers and two deputy ministers from Greece and the participation of more than 50 Greek companies, as well as French companies active in Greece, a Greek-French business meeting -investment forum is being held today in Paris jointly organized by the Greek-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and the Greek government.
This is an initiative launched in 2020 with the aim of expanding Greek-French cooperation in a number of critical sectors of the economy and promoting joint ventures between Greek and French companies. For example, the Greek business mission includes companies from the shipping, energy, construction, pharmaceutical and technology sectors.
During the business-investment Forum, Greek and French ministers and government representatives will present the actions and collaborations carried out in the last two years, but also highlight new opportunities and investment prospects in the most important sectors, such as energy and environment, tourism , transport and shipping, defense and security, technology and digital transformation, economy.
Recovery Fund
The work of the Forum, which has the theme “Greece-France Cooperation 2.0: Investing in the future”, begins at 09:00 in the morning local time (10:00 Greek time) with the greetings of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, responsible for economic diplomacy, Kostas Fragogiannis, the president of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dominique Restino and the president of the Greek-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry Laurent Thuillier.
Immediately after, the official opening of the Forum begins with the speakers of the Ministers of Finance, Christos Staikouras, and of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Olivier Becht. Afterwards, a thematic section on energy and the environment will be held, with the speaker general secretary of Energy and Minerals Alexandra Sdoukou, the general director of Energy and Climate at the Ministry of Energy Transition of France Laurent Michel and the participation of representatives of the business people in the respective industry.
Tourism
The next topic concerns tourism, during which the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zaharakis will speak about the prospects and the development of the tourism model in Greece.
Afterwards, the Ministers of Infrastructure and Transport Kostas Karamanlis and Shipping and Island Policy Yiannis Plakiotakis, as well as the Deputy Minister of Ecological Transition, Territorial Cohesion and Transport of France Clement Bon will talk about green infrastructures as drivers of development in the transport and shipping sectors.
Digital transformation
The Forum will conclude with the theme of technology and digital transformation, in which the Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis will speak on behalf of the Greek government.
On the sidelines of the Forum’s work, Deputy Minister Costas Fragogiannis will have a bilateral meeting with the French Minister of Foreign Trade, Olivier Becht, with whom they will discuss specific proposals to further strengthen bilateral economic relations. , while there will also be a series of meetings between French companies and Greek ministers (B2G).
Participants
The conference is expected to be attended by more than 300 people, with the participation of French and Greek businessmen, high-ranking French business executives, consultants, as well as representatives of organizations such as Medef, CCI PARIS, CCEF.
It is recalled that in the framework of the 2020 Forum, a relevant Declaration of Intent was signed between the competent Ministers of Finance, Development and Investments of the two countries, which is expected to be updated during this year’s Forum.
In an event organized by the Greek embassy in Paris on Monday evening ahead of the Forum, the importance of Greek-French economic cooperation was highlighted.
