
The expertise, which the IRS has already developed for the control of transactions in cryptocurrencies and digital assets, is sought to be utilized by Greece’s Independent Public Revenue Authority-AADE. During a meeting, at the IRS offices, in Washington, the Director of the AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis, and the Acting Commissioner of the IRS, Douglas O’Donnell, discussed the prospect of cooperation between the two services in this field.
Target
The aim of the visit of the Director of AADE is to develop cooperation with the IRS, in order to transfer to Greece the experience and know-how of the American tax authority in specific areas of monitoring cryptocurrencies and wider digital assets, such as:
– Tools for tracking transactions and owners of digital assets
– Activities on the dark web
– Personnel training
– Preparation of regulatory framework
At the same time, the Governor of AADE presented to IRS officers the operation of the digital invoicing and bookkeeping platform myDATA, and the applications “timologio” and “appodixi”, and stated that the Greek Independent Public Revenue Authority is willing to offer any help and expertise needed for in this direction.
