SEASURFER, an LPG Carrier operated by Thenamaris LNG, has delivered the world’s first certified blue ammonia cargo to Ulsan, South Korea. The cargo was loaded at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Ammonia blue is a low-emission fuel and is considered a decarbonisation fuel that can be used by many sectors of the economy and by shipping.
The fleet
Thenamaris controls, according to its website, a fleet of 104 vessels of which 59 are tankers, 22 Bulk carriers, two container vessels, seven LNBG Carriers, eight LPG Carriers and six are under construction (two tankers, four bulk carriers) .
At the end of November, it received the Suezmax type tanker, Seagrace, with a capacity of 157,700 dwt under the flag of Malta, built in the Korean shipyards of Samsung Heavy industries.
The head of the company is Nikolas Martinos, son of Dinos, who insists on a qualitative development policy. In the past, his company continued to take delivery of newbuild vessels. Prior to Seagrace, the Group took delivery of the newbuild MR2 tanker “ST NICHOLAS” with a capacity of 50,291 dwt, which brought the total number of MR2 tankers to 13. In the middle of last August, the Group took delivery of another newbuild, the MR2 tanker SEADRIVE, with a capacity of 50,291 tons dw. Also, during the summer it acquired two newly built cargo ships, SEABULK and SEACHAMPION, with a capacity of 81,400 tons DWT, length 229 meters and width 32 meters, each. The vessels in question were built at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co shipyard and bring the fleet strength to eight trucks
