Time is counting down until the appearance of Eva Kaili in front of Belgian judicial authorities, in order to testify about her involvement in the Qatargate scandal that is shaking the heart of Europe.
At the same time, her position is made more difficult by new incriminating evidence against the Greek MEP, which comes from the investigation related to the suitcase with money, which she instructed her father to remove from the house she lived with her husband Francesco Giorgi.
She, held in the state-of-the-art Haren prison, has distanced her position from the rest of the arrested persons and declares that she has absolutely nothing to do: with the money found in her house, the illegal activity of her partner Francesco Giorgi and the former Italian MEP , Antonio Panzeri.

Crucial questions
“She is nnocent without footnotes. Of the 3 charges, bribery, criminal organization and criminal organization, Ms. Kaili faces only the charge of bribery”, said her lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, however the 44-year-old politician is asked to answer a series of crucial questions:
– Because when she found out that there are suitcases of money in her house, she notified her father and not the authorities.
– Why did she ask her father to hand over the money to Pancheri and not to the Belgian police.
– How the items related to her two-year-old daughter were found in the suitcase with the money.
In addition, according to information, Eva Kaili’s husband, Francesco Giorgi, allegedly controls, under the guidance and supervision of the Italian Pier Antonio Panzeri, a wide network of MEPs, with the aim of influencing the votes, in favor of Qatar and Morocco.
As is well known, Eva Kaili, previously vice-president of the European Parliament, participated in these votes, even when she was not a member of the respective committees.
As the newspaper “La Repubblica” reveals, Antonio Panzeri bribed MEPs by handing out money in envelopes with Santa Claus printed on them, while, according to the same newspaper, the Belgian authorities recorded interesting conversations at Panzeri’s house on October 10, when he was visited by the then leader of the International Trade Union Federation, Luca Visentini.
Panzeri handed him the files and allegedly joked, “We look like the guys from Ocean’s Eleven.”

Investigations are progressing
As the investigation progresses in depth, the new evidence is causing reflection and debate around the world, as well as extensive analysis by international media.
The Authorities have focused on the underground routes of black money and in this context they are shifting through all the purchases of the Giorgi – Kaili couple. The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera focuses on a 0.7 hectare plot of land on the island of Paros, which the couple bought a few months ago for 300,000 euros.
“On 7 December, two days before the operation that led to the arrest of four people for Qatargate, Eurojust asked Italian prosecutors to investigate the purchase of an apartment in the city of Cervinia, which was suspected to have been bought with bribery money.
“A classic ‘recycling’ business, which could be hidden behind the investment made by Kaili and Giorgi, to build a villa on the island of Paros”, reports the Italian newspaper.
Within the borders, an investigation has already been ordered for Eva Kaili, with her companies in the real estate industry having come under the microscope. Two NGOs headed by her sister, Madalena, and the subsidies she received are also being investigated.
