The Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) ended 2022 up by 4.08 percent on the year, out-performing several other markets around the world, which posted significant losses.
The general index ended up 0.97 percent during the last trading session of the year, ending at 929.79 points. Turnover was a very modest 61.703 million euros, of which 29.2 million euros comprised a block trade in GEK Terna shares.
The Large Cap index ended 2022 with a 4.78-percent gain, while the Mid Cap index was up by 5.39 percent. The banking index ended 2022 with an 11.42-percent hike.
Among blue chip shares, Motor Oil (58.69 percent), Terna Energy (50.52 percent), Ellaktor (34.72 percent), Mytilineos (33.38 percent) and National Bank of Greece (27.80 percent) were top gainers, while PPC (-30.32 percent), IPTO (-29.52 percent), Sarantis (-26.40 percent), Coca Cola HBC (-25.31 percent) and Quest Holdings (-24.44 percent) were top losers in 2022.
